Fun with Family :)

This past week we've had a great time visiting with John's family in New Hampshire.  The weather has been lovely, and we've enjoyed playing with the kids at the park, in Papa Dean and Gigi's back yard, and at their cousin's house.  A few days ago we even took a day trip down to Plymouth to see the Mayflower II, Plymouth Rock and the Plantation.  Big Sister is studying US history this year, so we thought it would be a great place to visit while were in the area.

Little Bud wanted to check out the bread ovens at the settlement

We had to drag Big Sister away from this demonstration.
She watched him make 3 vases.  We might have to sign her up for
pottery classes at the Art Council sometime soon!

Plymouth Rock (notice how THRILLED Little Bud was).
Big Sister actually requested that we stop by to view the rock twice.

It's hard to image being cramped in such a small boat with 132 other people
(and animals!!)

sweet cousins!

These girls have had so much fun playing together!
Even though they live so far apart and only see each other about once a year,
they have a such a strong bond.

On the Road Again...

We left home last week for our summer motorhome trip.  We are planning to spend some time visiting John's family in southern New Hampshire, and then we're headed to the White Mountains.  If everything is going well, we'll drive up to Acadia National Park to camp for a few days before we start our trek back home.

The kids have been SO excited about our trip for the last few weeks.  They can't wait to see Gigi and Papa Dean and their cousins.  When John pulled the motorhome and jeep into the driveway last week, they were elated!!  Little Bud kept pointing to it and saying, "Momohome! Gigi! Papa Dean! Bye Bye!"  Big Sister was a great help getting us packed and ready to go.  She helped take care of Little Bud in her room for a while, keeping him occupied as we loaded things up, and then she even helped us pack up the last of our things before we hit the road.

John gave Big Sister his old iPod before we left, and I loaded all of her Classical Conversations memory work CDs (most of the memory work is in fun song form), a few episodes of Adventures in Odyssey, some Your Story Hour podcasts, her History of the World CDs, and of course a few Disney Princess CDs.  She even got to pick out her own headphones the day we left (she chose sparkly Doc McStuffins ones!).  During our drive up, she hardly took her headphones off.  She even listened to her iPod when Little Bud was a watching a movie or two, and she is not usually one to miss out on a movie!  She might have all of her CC memory work complete for the year by the time we get home!

Little Bud enjoyed passing his time in the "momohome" by listening to "Frozen Heart" (the first song on the Frozen soundrack) on repeat (as in, we've already listened to it 4500 times).  He did take a break every now and then to ask for a "moomie".  His favorites are Frozen, Monster's University, Sheriff Calli and Peppa Pig.  Whenever we made a stop, he was always eager to get back into his seat to continue the journey (which is out of character for him, since he usually fights us putting him back in the car seat when we're on a trip).
